Do you mind a few rounds of coffee for a little chit-chat, setting aside topics I once do declare that this site will only focus on?
If you do, let’s take a break, sit down, sip a cup of coffee, and read on! 😀
If I dream everything I wanna be, if I dream all the possibilities
If you just believe in your wildest dreams they will come true,
they will come true

I would like to write this post because today is a special day for me. It’s not my birthday, mind you, but a day where I decided to stand up, pick my bags, and do something else. It’s the first anniversary of me, missing on Facebook. It has been a rollercoaster ride when I was on my low point last year and decided to take down this account. People asking why did you delete your Facebook account, and keep on giving excuses for people who just want some tea and it’s exhausting but worth it.
With this, I want to celebrate today with a special dream I have in life. 🙂 Something that is not related to gaming but related to the gamer who built this space. I may have spilled this out already in the wild, but I want to tell it like it’s a real adventure story.
Let’s start with the dream itself.
My dream is to become a certified software tester, a mage of quality assurance, a class where more exploration means more powers, more happy people.
It will sound like a waste of change if I tell you that I am currently a software developer. People will tell me that it is a downgrade salary-wise because developers earn more than testers but my response will always be “that’s where I am extremely happy to do!“. But let’s not go to the developers vs. testers idea as it won’t be a valuable use of a special blog post – use Google if you want those. 🙂
Sometimes, when I share this thought to my co-workers, I seem to get the awkward response of “Are you sure do you want to be one?” or sometimes, “Are you for real?” in a doubtful way. Maybe I was just like that – I express what I genuinely feel in a manner like I am a child who dreams.
I recall a conversation a while ago. I reached out to my teammates who are the QAs of our current project for some resources to pass the Foundation Level of the ISTQB. ISTQB (or known as the International Software Testing Qualifications Board) is an organization that concentrates on certifying aspiring software testers worldwide. My QA teammates are still giving me the look of “Do you really want it that badly?“, and of course, I do understand because I am a developer, but it will always come to a point that I have to rethink my career and how can I best grow them.
Who Inspired Me?
I was inspired by one of my seniors in my second job. It didn’t take long before I realized that I liked what he is doing to my work when I submit tasks for quality assurance. He doesn’t stop to attempt to break my work and it always keeps my heart beating faster when it’s about to break. But that’s where the fun is with quality assurance – not the sadistic part, but to break things to the point that everything is covered before users can see it and will love how it works perfectly!
So I told myself, from there on, I won’t forget that guy who exposed me to the grandest idea of software testing. I will do my best to become a great software tester as well as a great developer, because why not? I won’t be learning all the trades anyway – it just so happened that the two roles are related to each other by the power of teamwork.
Because skills are meant to be built from experience. 🙂
The goal is obvious. To pass the Foundation Level of ISTQB and start growing my skills on the QA side as well as keeping tabs with being a developer. I do believe that skills are earned and harnessed to be refined, and so with my passion in the software world. I do believe that getting this is a good blend of my skills as a developer.
Thus I am targeting that before the end of the year 2019, I should be certified. But hey, I am not setting all of this as an ultimatum, but I would love to frame this as a journey to my life outside gaming. Because why not?
Well, let see where will my legs lead me to. 😀 See you soon! 😀
